From the publisher:
Three Jewish middle-aged sisters, originally from Brooklyn, come together in Queen Anne's Gate, London, to celebrate the fifty-fourth birthday of Sara, the eldest, now a brilliant British banker. Divorced, a single mother, Sara no longer sees the necessity for romance. Gorgeous, the middle sister, is a suburban housewife and talk show personality. And Pfeni, journalist and travel writer, still hasn't written her serious book on the women of Tajikistan. Pfeni's boyfriend, Geoffrey, director of the hit musical The Scarlet Pimpernel, brings to Sara's house Mervyn, a faux furrier, "the world leader in synthetic animal protective covering." Sara meets Merv and finds that even at fifty-four there are possibilities. An exuberant, heart-warming, contemporary comedy by one of America's best playwrights.

Directed by: Cate Jones
Performance dates: March 24th through April 15th, 2000
Six One-Act Comedies
This lively and clever series of "playlets" will provide an evening of hilarity as well as thought. Critically acclaimed and award-winning, these comedies combine wit, intellect, satire and just plain fun. Time Magazine declared it "Theatre that aerobicizes the brain and tickles the heart. Ives is a mordant comic who has put the play back in playwright." The New York Times proclaimed it was "Like sketches for some hilarious, celestially conceived review. The writing is not only very funny, it has the density of thought and the precision of poetry."

Lord of the Flies
Adapted by: Nigel Williams
Directed by: Michael Lederman
Set/Lighting Design by: Paul Anable
Performance dates: June 2nd through June 17th, 2000
Based on the novel by William Golding, Lord of the Flies tells the story of a group of boys who are stranded on a deserted island when the plane they were traveling in crashes over the ocean. Without adult leadership, these boys must learn to fend for themselves. They develop a "society" within which they operate. Ultimately, this society broke down into two groups: a group of "hunter/gatherers" led by an aggressive older teanager; the other was a more passive and submissive group led by a more philosphical boy. As these two "cultures" came more and more into conflict with each other, a lesson in how mores and customs are developed was shown. The publication Time and Tide touched upon perhaps the most important facet of this story when it said, "It is not only a first-rate adventure story but a parable of our times." This drama featured the talented youth of our community.

Adapted by: Dale Wasserman
Directed by: Roxane Ashe
Set design by: R. Dutch Fritz
Lighting and sound design by: Paul Anable
Performance dates: September 1st through September 16th, 2000
In this prize winning adaption of a classic novel of the 60’s, Ken Kesey's hero is Randle Patrick McMurphy, a boisterous, brawling, fun-loving rebel who swaggers into the world of a mental hospital and takes over.
A lusty, life-affirming fighter, McMurphy rallies the other patients around him by challenging the dictatorship of Nurse Ratched. He promotes gambling in the ward, smuggles in wine and women, and openly defies the rules at every turn.
But this defiance, which starts as a sport, soon develops into an all-out war between two relentless opponents: Nurse Ratched, backed by the full power of authority...McMurphy, who has only his own indomitable will. What happens when Big Nurse uses her ultimate weapon against McMurphy provides the story's shocking climax. Both hilariously funny and deeply moving.
