(Opening Night: August 4)

WHAT: Steve Martin and Edie Brickell’s Grammy and Tony-nominated musical, BRIGHT STAR, weaves live, toe-tapping banjo music and incredible true events into a rich, refreshingly genuine journey along the Blue Ridge Mountains. Seamlessly entwining the past and present, the story gracefully unfolds in a series of scene and costume transformations.

BRIGHT STAR won the 2016 Outer Critics Circle Awards for Best Musical and Best Score and the Drama Desk Award for Outstanding Music. It also received five 2016 Tony Award nominations including Best Musical, Best Score, Best Book, Best Lead Actress in a Musical and Best Orchestrations.

At the heart of the story lies Alice Murphy, a literary editor whose encounter with a young soldier returning from the harrowing battlefields of World War II reawakens a deep longing within her for the child she once lost. Bound by an inexplicable connection, Alice embarks on a transformative journey, delving into her own past to uncover the truth. What unfolds is a poignant and heartwarming story of love lost and love found, told through irresistible melodies, compelling characters and ultimate joyful redemption.
