Coastal Rep Kids Theatre (CRKT) had a sellout crowd for its two-weekend run of Cinderella Youth Edition! The K-8 program featured over 60 local child actors on stage in this Rodgers and Hammerstein classic musical. Under the leadership of CRKT manager Sabina Persweig, who directed and music directed the show with Jess Nordby as choreographer, the youth of the coast delivered an enjoyable performance of this memorable fairy tale. It’s always exciting to see a show come together, and it represents 14 weeks of hard work by cast and crew alike.

The Coast Rep Kids Theatre program continues to grow under Sabina’s leadership, with opportunities to participate in the Spring and Fall programs, as well as during the summer camps. If being onstage is not your child’s cup of tea, a backstage and technical crew of teens and young adults help with stage management, set design, lighting, props and more.
Opportunities abound for the youth of the coast to learn all aspects of theater and develop new skills. Several of our teens also appear in mainstage productions both on stage and as crew members.
Kids Theatre Summer Camps
There are many options for half and full-day summer camps this year. Each camp will end with a musical revue created by students and faculty. There are different classes for kids in age group 5-7, and 8-14 years old. The summer camps are a great way for children to explore theater at Coastal Rep! Register your child today!
Fall Program (K-8)
If your child gets bitten by the acting bug, Sabina runs a great after school program that will start in August. Kids learn a broad array of skills, including acting, singing, dancing and even improv. Through games and exercises, young actors can hone their skills, while gaining confidence on stage and in front of a crowd,
Fall High School Musical

Learning and performing can continue when your child moves on to high school. In 2022, the very first group of CRKT high schoolers performed Something Rotten, a hilarious musical set in Shakespeare’s time. With spectacular costumes, great songs and stellar performances, the show was enjoyed by sold out crowds. In 2023, they will perform The Addams Family - sure to be an entertaining show.
And next year, there will be another spring musical for K-8 age kids, so be sure to check the website regularly for registration information, and sign up to be on our mailing list to ensure you never miss a program.
As a community theater, CRKT depends on the numerous volunteer hours provided by parents and guardians. Parents help with costuming, props and set building – and are critical to running the program. We are grateful for your support.
